Wonderfully
dynamic
The overall effect of all this mixed-up art is wonderfully
dynamic and even surprisingly comfortable, as if I'm visiting
the home of some quirky art-collector friends. The feeling
extends to the hospitality of the staff, who seem as if they
genuinely enjoy talking to guests and helping everybody make
the most of a trip to one of New England's most culturally
sophisticated small cities.

Whimsical and elegant
This imposing 1884 Italianate home in the architecturally
distinctive Western Prom neighborhood surprises guests with
interiors that are both whimsical and elegant—a fatally
cloying combination when attempted by anyone without impeccably
good taste.

Just like home
I have lived and traveled the world, and this is the first
place I have ever stayed that felt like I was staying at home,
minus the stress! The beds are perfect, feather pillows—thank
you! Beautiful sheets, cozy, interesting, and clean. There
is so much positive energy that the whole house seems to be
smiling. Yet it is not too much. It is calm, peaceful and
relaxing.

An incredibly divine retreat from
the world
I had occasions to stay at this superb, incredibly divine
retreat from the world! Had I the money, I would have taken
up permanent residence there, and never looked back. The interior
design of the entire Inn is totally, elegantly eclectic and
magnificently brought together for a spellbinding effect.
The bathrooms are retreats of luxury beyond comprehension,
as are the bedrooms. The Inn is quiet, serene, and strictly
for those who appreciate, understand, and care about the finest
things in life. The hosts are intellectually stimulating,
charming, and down-to-earth all at the same time.

Highly recommended
We stayed in the carriage house with its own private terrace,
and it was wonderful! The room had a fireplace and a nice
sized bathroom, and the little terrace was great for morning
coffee. Also, the breakfasts were delicious, with generous
portions. Highly recommended!

A real find
I felt right at home here. And even though I arrived very,
very early, the innkeeper sat down with me and went through
maps and helped me plan my stay. This is a spotless property,
with an efficient staff, in a quiet and very interesting neighborhood.
It's a real find.

Well worth it
A little off the beaten track, but well worth it! Try to stay
in the carriage house, which is very romantic and private,
with gas fireplace, private terrace and a little garden. Loved
the breakfasts, and the overall service was excellent. Would
highly recommend the Pomegranate Inn!

Extraordinary
The decor is eclectic, reflecting the taste of the owner,
but always attuned to the needs of the guests. The staff could
not be more helpful and knowledgeable about Portland and the
surrounding area. Not for those who need cookie-cutter rooms,
but for a relaxing visit, the Pomegranate is extraordinary.
