during your stay at the Pomegranate Inn. The Inn
is located just five blocks from the Arts District,
which is home to more than 30 galleries on Congress
Street and the Portland Museum of Art in Congress
Square.
The Portland Museum of Art contains more than
18,000 fine and decorative works dating from the
18th century to the present, including paintings,
sculpture, prints, photography, glass and ceramics,
artists' books, furniture, and much more. Works
by artists such as Frederic Church, Marsden Hartley,
Winslow Homer, Rockwell Kent, John Singer Sargent
and Andrew Wyeth showcase the unique artistic
heritage of the United States and Maine.
The Cygnet Gallery represents Maine artists working
in many styles from contemporary realism in oils
and acrylics to abstract watercolors, as well
as fine art furniture and metal sculpture. Cygneture
artists include Annereland, Guy Corriero, Corinne
Carbone, Tim Gaydos, Diana Roper McDowell, R.
Scott Baltz, Edgar Reims, Dennis Rafferty, Opus
One and Rusted Puffin Metalworks.
